In the three series we saw this weekend matching intra-divisional opponents, we saw one tie (Cubs/Cards 2-2), and zero sweeps (Det/Cle 2-1)(Min/Sox 2-1). Outside of these spirited contests that did little to impact the divisional races, every other team in the Central divisions, except for Houston, lost their series. Houston just eeked out a series win with the pathetic Nationals winning three games and losing two in the series.

In other series:

- The struggling Mets took 2 of 3 from Cincinnati.

- The reeling Red Sox took 3 of 4 from Kansas City.

- The Phillies made quick work of their intrastate rivals in a 3 game sweep of Pittsburgh.

- And the Dodgers were being the Dodgers, beating the Brewers 2 games to 1.

Here’s how the races pan out as we enter the All-Star Break.

AL Central Division Standings

Team GB

Detroit – - (48-39)

Sox 3.5 (45-43)

Minnesota 4.0 (45-44)

Kansas City 11.5 (37-51)

Cleveland 14.0 (35-54)

NL Central Division Standings

Team GB

St. Louis – - (49-42)

Milwaukee 2.5 (45-43)

Cubs 3.5 (43-43)

Houston 3.5 (44-44)

Cincinnati 5.0 (42-45)

Pittsburgh 9.5 (38-50)

Hopefully the second half will be more exciting and brighten up the rest of the summer for this little tyke.

And look on the bright side Midwesterners, the NL East is just as crappy, if not crappier, than both of our divisions!
