SUNDAY, 2/7 at 5:25 pm CST: Colts vs. Saints (Super Bowl XLIV; CBS)

• Stormin Norman (9-5) Colts over Saints: Come on, seriously? I know the Saints are “America’s Team”, but they are going to have a bit of trouble with Peyton. The Saints defense is entirely predicated on turnovers and..gulp..Manning doesn’t usually make those. I know Brees is good, but not good enough to overcome a vastly superior Colts team.
• South Side Sheik (9-5) Colts over Saints – The difference maker in this game….Pat McAfee, punter for the Colts. This is going to be a sixty minute battle for field position. I’m going to one-up the other guys and predict a final score of 12-6, all field goals.
• StevieY19 (9-5) Saints over Colts: That’s right, upset special. God is ready to make it up to New Orleans after that whole Katrina thing. The Saints will get flagged for hitting Manning too much, but they’ll also slow him down enough to win in a shootout-type affair.
• Javier Sandooski (6-8) Saints over Colts: I really think the Saints just have too many weapons, Sean Payton may actually be the better coach, Saints defense is not bad at all and people are forgetting that Brees is pretty much just as good as Manning.  I am totally pumped for this game, I hope it doesn’t let us down.

SATURDAY, 2/6 at 11:00 am CST: #2 Villanova @ #8 Georgetown (CBB; ESPN)

• Stormin Norman (9-5) Villanova over Georgetown: StevieY19 told me that he has already written off this college basketball season as “not having a single great team”. I disagree, and Villanova is one of the reasons why. Scottie Reynolds is my boy and can score from anywhere on the court. I know this game is on the road, but I’m picking Nova to upset the Hoyas.
• South Side Sheik (9-5) Georgetown over Villanova – I hate Scottie Reynolds more than anyone else in college basketball after having to watch him during the NCAA opening round game at the United Center a few years back. Although, anything from Washington D.C. is a complete disaster recently, so this game’s really a toss-up. Now if we were talking about the DePaul Blue Demons on the other hand…
• StevieY19 (9-5) Georgetown over Villanova: I’ll actually be very interested to watch this game Saturday, since Villanova is one of a small group of teams I could see winning it all. Typically when I classify a team as such, they end up blowing it embarrassingly and reminding me that I will lose my office pool to someone who knows nothing. Here’s to an 0-2 week!
• Javier Sandooski (6-8) Georgetown over Villanova: Wow I don’t know anything about these teams.  When in doubt, take the home team in college basketball.  And this is why i have the worst record out of all of us.

SUNDAY, 1/31 at 11:30 am CST: Red Wings @ Penguins (on NBC)

• Stormin Norman (7-5) Penguins over Wings: I don’t really know anything about hockey, but I know that I will always pick the team with the best young player in the league over a team that has no knees, ankles, or backs (i.e. Detroit).
• South Side Sheik (7-5) Penguins over Wings: I’m busy watching cartoons instead of the NHL on Sunday mornings, so I haven’t seen the Penguins all season. Regardless, I think they win because at least they are not from Detroit.
• StevieY19 (7-5) Penguins over Wings: This was tough because I really want to take the Red Wings here. If the game were in Detroit I would give the edge to the Wings, who are slowly getting players back from injury. With Kronwall finally coming back this week and perhaps Holmstrom by the weekend the Wings have a shot, but won’t have it all together enough to take down Pittsburgh.
• Javier Sandooski (5-7) Red Wings over Penguins: One thing was for certain – Stormin Norman’s “analysis” of his pick would start with “I don’t know shit about hockey”.  Well I was right.  I don’t even know if half the writers of NQTC even know if this is a finals rematch.  Wings are starting their second-half play and should look to get into form against Pittsburgh to exact some revenge.

SUNDAY, 1/31 at 2:30 pm CST: Lakers @ Celtics (on ABC)

• Stormin Norman (7-5) Lakers over Celtics: Neither team is exactly killing it right now, but they are the two best teams in the league regardless. I know this one is at the Garden, but I have trouble seeing an ailing Garnett being able to overcome the Lakers. Kobe rises to these occasions and he will do so again.
• South Side Sheik (7-5) Lakers over Celtics: The Celtics have been getting killed by opposing guards with or without KG playing significant minutes. Kobe gets his, and if Boston’s bigs shift to stop him, L.A.’s bigs will clean up on the glass.
• StevieY19 (7-5) Lakers over Celtics: I really have no clue what’s going on in the NBA, but I’ll go out on a limb and say this game will be boring for three and a half quarters and Kobe will win it from the foul line at the end.
• Javier Sandooski (5-7) Lakers over Celtics: Kobe. MFing. Bryant.  He’s good.

That’s right doubters.  2-0 last week.  Both games were not gimme picks either, but I got them right.  I know it’s a small sample size, but I’m pretty sure you can bet your life on my picks from here on out.  So when you go take care of your sports betting online, remember to check here first for my always correct picks of the week (there’s no way this bragging can be helpinig my gambling karma, but we’ll find out soon enough).  Alright, here are my two picks of the week for this week.

NCAA Basketball – Michigan State Spartans over North Carolina Tar Heels (Tuesday 12/1)

Yeah, that’s right.  I think the green and white are going to take down the Heels in Chapel Hill.  Coming off a tough loss to the Heels in the National Championship game, I think Izzo’s Spartans will come out with a vengeance.  Some people think UNC is the better team, but Kalin Lucas is shooting the lights out of the ball right now and MSU is so athletic and strong up and down the lineup I think they can pull it off.

NBA – Phoenix Suns over Cleveland Cavaliers (Wednesday 12/2)

The Suns have the best record in all of basketball right now.  As good as LeBron is, especially at home, it will not be enough to stop a rejuvenated Steve Nash (the guys is averaging 12 assists a game!) and his supporting cast.  Shaq managed to slow down the Suns offense when he was a part of the team, but I doubt he can slow them down much on the other side of the ball.

NFL- Saints over Pats (Monday, 11/30)

The Saints are just too good right now.  Offensively and defensively they are the best team in football (except maybe the Colts).  The Pats area good squad, but Brady is not 2006 Brady and the aging defense is starting to show signs of wear and tear.  Throw in the fact that the game is in New Orleans, and you’ve got a sure thing with the Saints.

NHL-Hawks over Sharks (Wednesday, 11/25)

I’m not going to lie, I don’t know much about hockey.  That being said, the Hawks are playing out of this world right now, and the return of Hossa may not mean much on the ice, but the energy and excitement from it could be a factor.  I hear the Sharks are good too, but so what?  This is the first in a long line of what I expect to be many homer picks.
