This was published by The Onion way back in March when Cutler was still on the Broncos and making his trade demands.  I just found it now, but it generally still applies to our boy Jay.  Enjoy!

Ok this post is not directed towards myself, since I obviously already love the guy.  He has a cannon for an arm and is pretty accurate with the football.  The problem some people have is that they think he goes out and parties too much and has a bad attitude.  In regards to the first part, he’s just a 25 year old kid who is living life, it’s not like he’s blacking out every night or letting it affect his game in any way.  In regards to the second part, we only have evidence of this “attitude” from the Broncos organization, who was running a smear campaign against Cutler for a while.  Tom Waddle attempts to debunk these misconceptions about Cutler:

Jay Cutler isn’t the petulant child the Broncos want you to think he is. My source says while he might like to go out and have fun every now and again — like all single 25-year-olds — he was the first one in the building every morning, studying film of the upcoming opponent. His teammates loved him and Brandon Marshall was made by Cutler, not the other way around. New Broncos coach Josh McDaniels is now suffering from debilitating migraines. I wonder why.

Let’s give Jay a chance.  Everyone is just assuming he is a whiny baby with a bad attitude, but I beg to differ.  He was in an impossible situation where all Denver fans wanted was the next John Elway.  He wasn’t the next Elway though, he’s Jay Cutler.  No matter what he did the fans ripped him apart and wanted him out.  So the Broncos obliged them, smearing Cutler to the point that he “had to be traded”.  He seems like a decent guy and a good leader, and almost all of the people that played with him give glowing reviews of his leadership and skills.  Don’t help push him out of Chicago like he was pushed out of Denver.

According to ESPN, the Bears have acquired Broncos quarterback Jay Cutler.  The Broncos get first round picks this year and next year, plus Kyle Orton in the deal.

I’m really shocked by the news.  The Bears always seemed like also-rans in the deal and I really expected Cutler to end up in Washington, Detroit, or even to stay in Denver before Angelo would make a move for him.

Kudos to Jerry Angelo, I didn’t know he had it in him.  This changes a whole lot on offense for Chicago.  Cutler is a legit NFL quarterback and in my lifetime, I barely know what that is like.  So there goes the speculation about who the Bears are looking at in the first round; they already made their first round choice and it’s Jay Cutler.

I think Stormin’ Norman peed himself when he heard the news.  The only downside for me is that the Bears got rid of both their fun quarterbacks in the same year.  Still, what a move.

**Orlando Pace was also signed today.  After a slow start by Angelo in free agency, these two moves are blockbusters.

The final pieces to the Cutler deal seem to break down with the Bears getting Cutler and a 5th rounder this year, in exchange for Orton, a first rounder this year, first rounder next year, and a third rounder this year.

Adding Orlando Pace and Jay Cutler in one day is amazing for the Bears.  Yes, they gave up a lot in draft picks, but the Bears don’t exactly clean up in the draft ever.  This is a win for both teams I think.
