“Just wondering: Have more people backed out of the Pro Bowl or the Bears offensive coordinator search?”

Sad but true – the only thing more pathetic than the Pro Bowl in the NFL right now is the Bears’ coaching staff search.  Just when we thought things couldn’t get much worse, it did.  The Chicago Sun Times reports that the Bears are interested in University of Pittsburgh’s OC Frank Cignetti for the same position.  Wow – so now we’re going after a guy who works underbleepin’ DAVE WANNSTEDT?!?!?  But like Lovie Smith said, “People will want to come coach here.”  Right Lovie, you are clearly as delusional as the rest of the Bears front office.  Can’t wait for the 2010 Bears season.

That was the full page ad the organization took out in the Sun-Times and Trib today.  I want to forgive them, I really do.  The thing is my mother always used to tell me that an apology is just words and is meaningless unless you intend on doing something different to prevent the mistake from happening again.  So while I appreciate the apology, can we PLEASE get rid of Lovie and Angelo?  Or at least Ron Turner, I mean that would be a serious apology.

Craig Ironhead Heyward or Cedric Benson? You make the call.

Cedric Benson is at it again. I guess we should have  expected that Benson wouldn’t just be able to let his play do the talking next Sunday in the Bengals’ tilt against the Bears. Perhaps anticipating laying an egg this week, Benson came out firing today alleging that the Bears organization spread rumors and only told the Bengals negative things about him prior to his signing.  I don’t know what was exchanged between the two organizations, but I’d imagine they revolved around “colossal bust”, “busting waistline”, “wasted draft pick”, “pick a time when he was wasted”. Sorry Cedric, but these aren’t rumors. These certainly are not positives, but come on, you would struggle to come up with positives from your stay in Chicago.

I’d like to think the Bears organization dealt with this situation with a certain amount of class, and listened to Virginia McCaskey, who always advised that “if you don’t have something good to say about someone, don’t say anything at all.” Following this advice, maybe they simply provided a flip book of some of Benson’s feats.

This is going to end poorly.

The hits keep coming nearly every time the guy gets in front of a microphone, he’s like an organized Kanye West, with a worse head coaching record.  Well, your worst fears have come true Chicago fans, Kiffin is coming for you and you don’t have a chance at bedding his hot wife. 

Kiffin on Bears quarterback Jay Cutler: “Cutler?  Yeah, I tried to get him to sign with the Vols when he left Denver, but apparently the SEC frowns upon that kind of thing. What a mistake that would have been, guy’s a real piece of work.  Did you know that prick got some kind of disease because he went to Vanderbilt?”  When asked about Cutler’s success so early in his career Kiffin responded “I had twice as good of an NFL career.”  Kiffin never played in the NFL.

On the Chicago White Sox: “Their manager–you know, that black guy–is awful.  Their GM sucks too.  I didn’t want to go public with this, but there were some major recruiting violations when they got that Peavy guy.” 

Blackhawks:  “Come on, hockey?  So gay.  I know I’ll have to apologize for that later, but seriously.”

Chicago Cubs: “Embarrassing team.  I thought Al Davis and the Raiders had it bad.  I’d love to bring my Vols to Wrigley and sing Rocky Top all night long after we beat them.  Yeah, in baseball.  Ryan Theriot told me once I looked a lot like Seth Rogen, but not so much after he lost weight, and I’m going to kick his ass for that.  Kiffin, out!”
