We found out a few months ago that Michael Jordan would not only be on the cover of the new NBA 2k11, but that you could in fact play with him in the game.  Hopefully that would erase all the bad childhood memories of not being able to play with him in NBA Jam.  Apparently things are about to get even awesomer though (yeah I made up the word awesomer for this special occasion).  I’m not much of a video game guy, but the fact that you can be 10 different MJs from different stages of his career is blowing my mind.  Check it out:

Now, Argent has unveiled the next surprise, which is that the game will have a mode called the “Jordan Challenge.” The mode allows fans to play with 10 different versions of Jordan that are authentic to that moment….

The games that fans can play with different versions of Jordan include all of the following:

-April 20, 1986 (Game 2 of the 1st round of the playoffs against the Celtics when Jordan scored 63)

-March 28, 1990 (regular season game against the Cavs when Jordan scored 69)

-June 3, 1992 (Game 1 of the first round of the playoffs versus the Trail Blazers when Jordan scored 35 in the first half)

- March 28, 1995 (Jordan returns to the game and scores 55 against the Knicks)

-June 11, 1997 (the famous Jordan “flu game”)

- June 14, 1998 (the day of his last game in a Bulls uniform as his last second shot gives the Bulls its sixth title under his reign).

In each game, gamers are charged with different goals, including matching Jordan’s point totals and shooting percentage.

If you hit six three pointers in a row like Jordan did against the Trail Blazers in 1992, the virtual Jordan will shrug just like he did in real life on that night.

Two of the 10 challenges don’t have specific dates tied to it.

You can play the 1991 Finals version of Jordan as well as play a game in 1990 style vs. Dominique Wilkins and the Atlanta Hawks, where gamers are challenged with holding Wilkins to 25 points or fewer.

That is only 8 versions and they say there will be 10. I’m thinking “The Shot” against Cleveland and maybe some AA ball with the White Sox affiliate the Barons. Just kidding on the last one, but sick!

The legend of Michael Jordan starts way back on his dirt driveway.  Back then he was getting spanked by his older, bigger, brother almost everyday on their dirt court.  His brother, Larry, is as much a part of the legend of MJ as anything else.  It’s hard to picture Michael getting beaten consistently (or at all) by anyone, but sometimes the big brother factor can weigh more heavily than skill.  Ask my little brothers, each of which I continued to punish on the court years after they had surpassed me in ability (that’s all old news, the older one can beat me consistently now and the youngest one beat me for the first time this past summer).

Anyways, Larry Jordan obviously did not make it like his little brother Mikey.  Turns out, Larry never really grew past 5’8″.  This clip shows Larry, even at such a short height, throwing down a sweet dunk.  Enjoy:

Ricky over at Tremendous Upside Potential stumbled on this the other day.  Apparently some guy is making youtube videos of all of Michael Jordan’s greatest moments recreated on NBA 2K10.  Check this one out, then go over to the youtube page and watch the rest (if you’re unemployed or trying to get fired of course).

I know it seems crazy to imagine, but once upon a time, Jordan was not the polished superstar billionaire we see today.  This picture is apparently a photo of a very young MJ dancing around with an umbrella in what loooks to be a dorm room (maybe his?).  Enjoy!

I know we did an entire tribute to Jordan at the end of last week and you are probably all sick of him, but somehow throughout the whole induction ceremony I didn’t catch this Cuban model hanging off MJ’s arm.  She is a looker (and most likely a gold-digger).  Here’s what the Tribune had to say:

[Yvette] Prieto has previously been spotted with the Bulls legend at NBA All-Star weekend in Phoenix in February and again in May, when she and Jordan wore color-coordinated outfits to the Kentucky Derby.

The Cuban model once dated singer Julio Iglesias Jr.

…According to The Palm Beach Post, Jordan, 46, and Prieto, believed to be in her early 30s, bought a three-bedroom house together in suburban Miami late last year.

They took out a 30-year mortgage worth $196,000. Prieto filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy in 2002.

I mean we can all agree she is probably a gold-digger but who cares?  Good for Michael.  Juanita was so homely looking and she was not exactly an angel.  On an unrelated note, I found this Jordan commercial that had somehow slipped through the cracks.  It may be my favorite one of all:

Michael Jordan gave a great speech on Friday at his induction ceremony.  He named all the people that drove him to succeed, whether it was by placing obstacles in his path to motivate him, of by supporting him as he rose to the top.  In my opinion, the speech was a home run, and some people agree with me.  Some feel that it was classless and arrogant.  Maybe it was both, but you can decide for yourself.  Here are all three parts of the speech:

The final video of the day will not be an on-court clip. I decided to go with a commercial. Although we all love the McDonalds game of HORSE commercial with Larry Bird, and of course the Gatorade “Be Like Mike” commercial, his Nike failure commercial always struck me on a deeper level. Congrats Mike!

Although it wouldn’t be the last of Michael Jordan in the NBA, it would be the last of him as a Bull.  The image will be burned in our brains forever.

After MJ retired from basketball, he spent a couple years trying his hand at baseball. Whether it was his lack of success in the minors or just an itch to address unfinished business, he decided to come back against the Pacers towards the end of the 1994-1995 NBA season. It wasn’t until he got to Madison Square Garden, however, that we truly knew Michael was back.

The 1993 NBA Finals were no cakewalk.  In fact, the Suns had a better regular season record than the Bulls that year, Barkley had won the MVP, and many experts were picking the Suns to win.  We all know what happened next, as the Bulls won in 6.  But before the series started nothing was certain.  Rumors of gambling debts swirled as well. What better way to summarize that than a classic NBA on NBC intro by Bob Costas?

One of the most famous clips of Jordan’s career is “the move” over the Lakers in Game 2 of the 1991 NBA Finals. This was Jordan’s first real shot at a title, and he wasn’t about to blow it. While most people remember the move, they don’t remember that it was his 13th straight made field goal, setting a new finals record. If you don’t want to watch the whole thing, fast forward to about the 4:30 mark to see the unbelievable move.

Arguably the defining shot of Jordan’s career, this game-winner over Ehlo put the Bulls on the map in the Eastern Conference.  Although it would be a couple years until the Bulls could overcome the dirty Pistons, this moment signified the arrival of Jordan and his Bulls as a force in the East, as opposed to a one-man show.
