What’s Chicago Bull Jerome James Been Up To? Besides Welching On His Debts Of Course

Yup, this fat dude is Jerome James. I didn't know what he looked like either.

At the trade deadline last season, the Bulls acquired some players that made a huge impact on their season.  They also were able to dump some huge contracts.  One of those was the contract of Larry Hughes.  In exchange for Hughes, the New York Knicks sent us some garbage.  One of those pieces of junk was the expiring contract of Jerome James.  Not Jerome James himself, mind you, since he would not play a single game in a Bulls uniform (and still hasn’t to date), but his $6 million dollars in expiring money for the summer of 2010.  Like most Bulls fans, I didn’t realize Jerome James was a real person and not just an expiring contract.  Turns out I was wrong.  He IS a real person, and not only that, but a person making $6 million this year to literally do nothing.  Let the trouble ensue:

Chicago Bulls center Jerome James is accused of dropping the ball when it came to paying off a 6.91 carat diamond — and now the jeweler is out for revenge.

In the civil suit, filed in L.A. Superior Court today, Lemmerman’s Inc. claims James bought a $70,000 engagement ring in 2008. The jeweler claims Jerome paid $50,000 up front and promised to pay the balance.

And there’s more — according to the docs, Lemmerman’s maintained a credit account for James … who allegedly racked up a grand total of $96,000 in bling-related purchases.

The jeweler claims the seven-foot Bulls backup hasn’t made a payment since January 2009.

I wish I could make fun of this guy more, but I really know very little about him.  His Wikipedia page reveals only that the Knicks signed him to one of the worst contracts ever after the 2004-2005 season.  That contract, 5 years for $30 million dollars based on very little in terms of performance or skill, is the contract he is still on to this day.  I wonder what other money he has promised all over town.  It looks like we’ll be finding out soon enough.

When he was in shape no one let him play. It shows how smart the NBA teams are to let good Players go to waste. What would you do if they never gave you a chance to prove your worth. How can you still love the game, why not love the money. The NBA teams who had him never gave him a chance. Most people are not paying bills. The USA never paid it’s debts. How about That. WE Pay tax For nothing all the time
