Brad Miller Politely Wishes Cavs Happy Hunting [Game 5 Reaction]
That was an exciting game and the Bulls played decently in the series considering the competition they were up against. That being said, the officiating in Game 5 was horrendous. The sequence with Shaq drawing what seemed like 5 fouls on the Bulls big men in under 20 seconds was insane. Those weren’t close calls. They weren’t “it could go either way” calls. They were just plain bad. Not only that, but the sequence completely prevented the Bulls frontcourt from playing with any aggressiveness the rest of the game. Was the officiating why we lost? YES! In a close game like that, a terrible call or two can change the game. 5-6 terrible calls in the 4th quarter alone? How can you not think it would change the game. I share Brad Miller’s sentiments right now, whether he is talking to the refs or the Cavs. Dammnit.
I’m too upset to break down the game now, but no worries, we have a few months to be miserable about it until July 1 and the opening of free agency. By the way, according to Gar Forman Vinny’s job is safe, at least until the weekend.

Thanks Sandman for a bandwagon comment. Clearly you didn’t watch the sequence or the entire officiating the entire series. I like Lebron and think hands down he is the best player in the league. The dude still cries like a baby for every call. Play the game and stop whining…You don’t or you never have seen other greats do the whining that he does. They play the game and thats it. Im not a conspiracy theorist and complainer that the Ref’s wanted the Cavs to win but those calls were horrendous. Basically your argument is that any big man guarding Shaq should just move out of the way so his fat ass can go and dunk…you say hold your ground. Not sure how much more clearer a person can hold their ground then what they did. But since Cleveland has been winning champio…..ohh wait they havent….Tell the “Jordan stoppers” whats up.

One thing that I came away with after last night’s game is that Derrick Rose definitely still has some growing up to do. This isn’t a criticism on his development because I think he is way ahead of any player at his age in terms of stepping up when his team needs him, but his last shot with 15 seconds to go and the Bulls down 3 was definitely forced. It wasn’t horrible, but you either take the easy 2, the easy foul and go to the line, or the designed play for a 3 in that situation, not the panicked floater above a 7-footer. I’d like to see him have at least gotten one of the three plays mentioned above. But I know he’ll continue learning and developing and will be able to make the right play in the near future. Again, I really hope Lebron stays in Cleveland so that this rivalry can continue to blossom.

NORM, ARE YOU IMPLYING THAT NBA REF’S ARE FIXED? THAT IS PREPOSTEROUS, AND A VERY ORIGINAL THOUGHT.
But seriously, the sequence that really pissed me off was the point swing between Rose getting fouled, and the ref’s calling it a foul on the floor rather than the continuation that it actually was, and a foul was called on the other end. I forgot the circumstances on the 2nd foul because I was so pissed about the continuation. But that’s your game right there. Derrick Rose is so incredibly athletic that he is capable of going for a shot when he knows he’s getting fouled. Clearly, the ref’s had an interest in the game when they saw it was getting too close for comfort, and Dick Bevetta wasn’t needed for a potential Game 6 or 7.

They weren’t bad calls…they were fouls…straight up. You CANNOT put you body into a guy like that. That is a foul. You either have to let him back you up or hold your ground (which against someone as large as Shaq would be quite tough). Don’t wine about the refs or even the way the Cavs played that out. You and Noah are the ones that can’t jump up and block one of Shaq’s shots so you have to commit a foul or let him go up on you. Plain as that. Peace Bulls, maybe next year.
