U-S-A, U-S-A!  Who wants to bet on the Olympics?  I do!  Hit up the online sportsbook and place your bets on Olympic hockey while you still can.  The way I’ve been doing, I’m going to put all those sportsbooks out of business.  And everyone knows college basketball is the way to go.  Anyone know anything about point-shaving?

Sunday 2/21 at 6:40 pm – US vs. Canada (Olympics Ice Hockey)

  • StevieY19 (13-5) Canada over US: Canada is too good and I think the only chance they falter in the Olympics is if they crack under pressure. There won’t be pressure on them in the first round though, and I think they pull away from the US and win by at least a couple goals. I love the move to rest Brodeur for the first game and think that will set him up for a great performance in this one.
  • South Side Sheik (11-7) Canada over US: The Americans looked a little shaky in their 3-1 win over Switzerland, giving the puck away too often. A better team like say, Canada, will be able to finish these opportunities more efficiently than the Swiss. The game will still be close (hopefully) but I think the home-country team
    has more firepower.
  • Stormin Norman (10-8) US over Canada: Kane over Toews!  I have no idea what will happen in this game and I barely understand hockey.  What I do know is that there is a ton of pressure on the Canadian Hockey team to win and the US team isn’t bad. Pressure + Canada?  Sounds like a recipe for disaster, eh?

Sunday 2/21 at 11:00 am – Ohio St. @ Mich St (CBB)

  • StevieY19 (13-5) MSU over OSU: This is ONLY because they are at home. I don’t think MSU has played a good game for a very long time, but they seem to have a way of showing up for big home games (when Lucas is healthy). Right now OSU looks like the better team to me, but I’ll go with the Spartans here.
  • South Side Sheik (11-7) MSU over OSU: The Spartans have two advantages: 1) they’re playing at home and 2) they’re coming off an easy win over IU, affording Kalin Lucas some much needed rest, while OSU has to go up against the tough Boilermakers before heading to East Lansing.
  • Stormin Norman (10-8) MSU over OSU: Kalin Lucas is back and he is filthy.  OSU looked good against Illinois, but I have a feeling that 1-3-1 zone won’t completely incapacitate the Spartans offense like it did to the Illini.  Also it’s nearly impossible to beat the Spartans in the “Izzone”, and the Buckeyes won’t.  Turner wins the matchup with Lucas on paper maybe, but MSU will win the game.
