Why Won’t Milton Bradley’s Negativity Just Go Away (Unpaid Rent Edition)
Want to revisit the Milton Bradley situation? Neither do I, but I felt like I needed to share a bit of ridiculous information that just proves that even one year of Milton Bradley’s negative energy will take a while to wash off. Stories surfaced last week that Bradley, who leased an apartment for a year on April 1, 2009 in Chicago, abandoned that apartment at the season’s end and has not made a rent payment since then:
Bradley signed a lease for a luxury Magnificent Mile condo just as the baseball season was starting, but his landlord says he walked out on the $15,000-a-month lease in the fall.
Now the landlord and the realty company that helped lease the 24th-floor Park Hyatt condo, 800 N. Michigan Ave., are suing Bradley for $44,100 in back rent, late fees and interest through this month. And they’ll be seeking further rent until the lease runs out.
Although the realty company suing Bradley has tried to rent the apartment out, they have been unable to do so. No word on whether racism played any part in this story. Just kidding, I’m not going to dredge that thing up again. Honestly though, can the entire city just chip in to pay this off and get Bradley’s name out of the news? Even before this story broke, Chicago sportswriters were reaching for reasons to get their last digs in at him. Make it stop!

[...] The list of things that Milton Bradley doesn’t like is long and fairly well known. He’s a man who never misses an opportunity to bitch about something, so it’s been pretty well documented. Well this time it’s someone else who’s doing the bitching for Milton, but you can go ahead and add “Paying Rent” to that list. <notqualifiedtocomment> [...]

I don’t care about Milton Bradley. Let’s talk about another person who might be replacing him: Jermaine Dye. Is this going to happen? Seems like it would be a great fit, as long as the contract isn’t for too long. 25+ HRs for like 7 straight seasons I think. Give him a 2 year deal for like $15 million and call it a day.

Great idea, SND. Your share of the back payments is 2¢. Or is this going to be one of those situations where you hide behind your Wilmette residency?
