Finally, I had a 2-0 week last week.  I knew it was coming, even if my Saints pick was due to a typo.  I’ll still take it, even though it doesn’t help me online sportsbook account!

Unfortunately, my current record does not indicate good results for sports betting online. The only way to recover from that?  Bet more next time, duh!

SUNDAY, 1/24 at 5:40 pm CST: Vikings @ Saints

  • Stormin Norman (6-4) Saints over Vikings: Because I’m just so goddamn sick of Brett Favre.
  • South Side Sheik (6-4) Saints over Vikings: I echo Stormin Norman’s hatred of Favre. So I’ll try to justify it. Saints have a better running game than the Boys although their offensive line could get dinged too, opening the floodgates for Edwards and Allen. I also like the Saints healthy secondary over the Cowboys’ rookies. These two upgrades should be enough to push the Saints over the Vikes.
  • StevieY19 (6-4) Vikings over Saints: The Vikings will win this game because God hates me and everyone else who hates his second son, Brett.
  • Javier Sandooski (4-6) Saints over Vikings:  The homefield advantage in the superdome is a huge plus for the Saints.  I think the Vikings’ success does not depend on that POS Favre, but really depends on their d-line and Jared Allen – if they show up then they have a much better chance.  But Jared Allen is also a POS and I hate the Vikings.

SATURDAY, 1/23 at 3:00 pm CST: #1 Texas @ #21 UConn

  • Stormin Norman (6-4) Texas over UConn: Is UConn even a national power this year? I think perhaps they were overrated on the reputation of the program alone. Texas is the best team in the nation and James will prove why he is such a beast. I know its at UConn, but Texas is good enough to win on the road.
  • South Side Sheik (6-4) Texas over UConn: The only teams who will give Texas a run for their money this year will be Big 12 teams who treat their games as their championship game. UConn will roll over and live to fight another day in the Big East.
  • StevieY19 (6-4) Texas over Uconn: The Huskies could use a big win after dropping three tough ones recently, but Texas is too good. After watching Kansas State out-rebound Texas on their way to a win, you have to be cautious of a big UConn team doing the same, but I don’t see that happening.
  • Javier Sandooski (4-6) Texas over UConn: I am the lazy one so I waited and saw that Calhoun is out.  Texas wins by even more.  UConn does not pull out an emotional win for their sickly coach.

I’d like to point out that I submitted my picks before Kansas State knocked off Texas, thus making it far more prescient that I would foresee another Big XII team beating the Longhorns before some non-conference team would.

I’d also like to point out that I submitted my Saints pick before hearing the news that they had only signed Deuce McAllister for last week’s game. I’m not sure if I would’ve made the same pick knowing that the Deuce would not be loose against the Vikes.
