Bears Website Insensitivity Makes You Cringe (Fun With Advertising)
Thanks to NQTC reader Dominic for catching this little mishap. I have no doubt in my mind that this was an accident, NQTC ads run all the time and I don’t entirely know what is going to pop up on them. However…doesn’t this kind of thing make you uncomfortable? I mean its funny, sure, but just a bit too soon to laugh about.
For those that don’t get what the problem is, take a look at the ad scrolling on the top of the screenshot and then think about that when put above a story about Gaines Adams. Now do you get it? Ouch.

No, it doesn’t, since I do have to see any ads, because I’m intelligent enough to take action so that things that annoy me no longer do so.

Yeah, it’s most definitely out of place. But like you said, it’s probably a complete accident. I mean, this sort of thing is bound to happen when a site is serving ads randomly/contextually.

I guess its one of the Google Adsense ads which picked up the “dead” keyword and put up the life insurance ads. I think you can’t filter them to that level though although a few filters are available.

It’s stupid to call it “insensitive” ….that implies some sort of intentional action on someone’s part.
“Insensitive” implies there was a chance to be “sensitive” that was missed, and that is not the case here (most likely).

It happens because of the word “dead” just like kunal explains. >.>

Contextual advertising is a bitch. Viagra ads are displayed whenever Coach Smith is featured.

Sometimes those Google Ads are a little TOO good.
