Qualified Picks – Week of 12/22
Well no one accused us of being Howie, Terry, Jimmy and JB but we’re offering up some more picks to pique your interest. Hopefully these help as you head to the online sportsbook with those Christmas/Hanukah checks that came early in the mail. To recap: we all were witnesses to the Hawks’ greatness, but only Stormin Norman pegged the Texas Longhorns correctly, as a juggernaut who takes down Top 25 teams with ease. (Texas followed it up with a 79-68 win over #9 MSU last night).
This week we take a look at the two heavyweight bouts the NBA has in store on Christmas Day for you to get your sports betting online fix. First up,
FRIDAY, 12/25 at 1:30 pm CST: BOSTON CELTICS @ ORLANDO MAGIC
- Stormin Norman (2-0) Celtics over Magic: Although the C’s win streak was halted last week, they are still the team to beat in the East. Even if the Magic get Jameer Nelson back in time, it won’t be enough.
- Javier Sandooski (1-1) Magic over Celtics: Jameer Nelson will be back to form by Friday and Dwight Howard is awesome. Plus, I am so sick of all things Boston (clam chowder excepted, obviously).
- StevieY19 (1-1) Celtics over Magic: I’ll take the Celtics here. I saw Rasheed get ejected the other night and blame it on the ref standing too close to the huddle during a timeout. Sounds crazy, but I’m on his side because I LOVE Sheed. He will help out on Howard if he can stay in the game and the Celts are too much for the Magic.
- South Side Sheik (1-1) Celtics over Magic: I too hate the Celtics. But the addition of Lester Hudson from the Maine Red Claws, will only serve to light a fire under the C’s starters.
FRIDAY, 12/25 at 4:00 pm CST: Cleveland Cavaliers @ L.A. Lakers
- Stormin Norman (2-0) Lakers over Cavs: I love Kobe. That’s pretty much the reason. The fact that he has a more complete team and a better coach doesn’t hurt, but the Mamba will prevail.
- Javier Sandooski (1-1) Lakers over Cavs: Kobe seemingly plays EVERY Christmas Day. He loves the spotlight, and this game should attract plenty of national attention. I say Kobe and the Lakers go off, and put the Cavs in their place (good East team that won’t win a championship and Lebron skips town for Chicago.
- StevieY19 (1-1) Cavs over Lakers: Preview of the inevitable Stern Bowl coming this summer. The Lakers have played a remarkable number of games at home so far this year. They get another one on Christmas Day. Are they going on a 30-game roadie in the second half? Anyway, Lebron goes for 45 and the Cavs win.
- South Side Sheik (1-1) Anyone over the Bulls. Why? I need to get one of these picks right and I figure this is the safest pick out there. They wouldn’t let me pick Vikes over Bears. Anyways, I pick the Lakers over the Cavs. While Lamar will be exhausted from Christmas Eve with the Kardashian/Jenners, Ron Artest will step up to push the Lakers over the edge.
