Qualified Picks – New Years Bowl Edition

qualified picksDo you make New Year’s resolutions?  Me neither.  But if I did, one of these years I might consider stopping sports betting online.  Hopefully that year never comes.  Anyways, it’s the last Qualified Picks of 2009, and if you feel the way I feel then I cannot wait for this wretched year to come to a close.  What better way to close out the year than two can’t-miss wagers for your online sportsbook?

Hopefully this week I can do better than my 0-fer last week.  Here we go:

FRIDAY, 1/1 at 7:30 pm CST: #3 Cincinnati vs. #5 Florida (Sugar Bowl)

  • Stormin Norman (3-1)Cincy over Florida: Although both teams have issues surrounding their coaches, I think Florida’s will be far more distracting. The high-powered Cincy offense will overwhelm the Gators in this one.
  • StevieY19 (3-1) Florida over Cincy- And the Tebow Chronicles shall reflect: In the fourth bowl game Tebow cured Urban and absolved the coach of his sins. He cried the the tears of the cure (of joy this time) after the Gators ended Cincy’s unbeaten season.
  • South Side Sheik (2-2)Florida over Cincy – While I love Marty Gilyard and his “living out of his car while he tried to get his scholarship back” stories, the Bearcats actually lost their coach and several other assistants, Florida only lost, then got back, then sorta lost their head coach.
  • Javier Sandooski (1-3) Florida and the state-wide and media-wide mancrush on Tebow will edge out Cincinnati in a close game.  Urban or no Urban, I think Cincy is left in more turmoil than Florida is.  Plus, I think the craze to prove Kelly wrong for going to ND doesn’t start until next year.

FRIDAY, 1/1 at 12:00 pm CST: #13 Penn State vs. #12 LSU (Capital One Bowl)

  • Stormin Norman (3-1) LSU over PSU: Penn State is a very good team but LSU has seen far better competition all season long. Miles and the Tigers will prevail in a close game.
  • StevieY19 (3-1) LSU over PSU- I hate to do this, because I think the Big Ten could have had a decent showing against the SEC with the right match-ups, but I think LSU is a bad draw for Penn State. LSU pulls away in the second half. Look our for a little all-purpose back named Trindon Holliday for the Tigers.
  • South Side Sheik (2-2)LSU over PSU – 1) I think the Geaux Tigers signs are stupid. 2) JoePa’s grizzly “Come to Penn State!!!” at the end of the Big Ten commercials creeps me out. I can’t imagine if I were a recruit and he was sitting on my sofa telling me that. With that I’ll take the SEC, although the Big Ten has had success in the Capital One before.
  • Javier Sandooski (1-3) LSU over PSU – apparently none of us like the big ten, even in big ten country.  Those that know me know my theory – big ten football is overrated all season then chokes in the bowl games (I guess Wisconsin defeated this rule, but whatever).  Also, I don’t think Penn State has “inadvertently” re-routed JoePa’s flight to another city so he’ll be there “coaching.”
