Joakim Noah Takes Exception To LeBron’s Showboating

December 5, 2009 at 1:28 am | Chicago Bulls
By: Stormin' Norman Disciple

LeBron-NoahThe Bulls game was not a pretty affair last night, and I’m not just talking about the blowout the Cleveland LeBrons put on Chicago. Noah, frustrated with his play perhaps but also annoyed with LeBron’s showboating and celebrating too much, started barking at LeBron from the bench. LeBron took exception to that and started walking over after his first free throw. Enjoy.

I can understand Noah’s frustration. The Bulls have struggled since leaving for the Circus Trip and Noah is a passionate guy that hates to lose. If anything this makes me like him more. Also, if I was getting blown out and someone from the other team did a stupid little celebration dance, I would probably be pretty pissed too.

***UPDATE: According to Ric Bucher’s Twitter: Sources @ the bench on what Joakim said to LeBron: “This is so ****ing old” + the clincher that got LJ coming at him: “You’re a b****.”

Whether you agree with him or not, you have to love the balls on Noah to call the NBA’s biggest superstar a bitch.

Way to go Noah….

Keep the arrogance of Lebron and Kobe to the sports announcers, who think they both are “Gods”!
Doesn’t hurt to humble any person who thinks they are superior to all and strut around like a street punk. Or if Noah did say “your a bitch” to Lebron….Noah’s RIGHT ON!!!

The day LeBron wins a championship ring that’s the day he can dance and celebrate, The NBA just gives him so much publicity that it’s just so sad…Noah is a good player just like everybody on the floor and has a right to display his dislike for James behavior.. As competitors know one likes to get it rubbed in their face and that is exactly what Lebron did. And dumb comments by Cheryl Miller and Steve Smith justifying it shows why thet are second rate announcers. hey lebron you can dance, but can you shake hands? Oh, I forgot it’s war out there!!!!

Would you like it as a competitor if someone rubbed it in your face? Tell Lebron to join Dancing with the Stars and remind him this is basketball. At his age no one can compare with his career stats. Last I checked Jordan didnt have any rings at his age…. Jordan was still showboating and he is a way bigger ass than LeBron

First of i would like to say that ppl who say LeBron can’t do this or that because he doesnt have a ring. that is bull shit. you all know James is a great ball player maybe considered one of the better ones ever., im not discrediting Kobe or any other professional Basketball player, but i agree If noah were dancing around and havin fun it’d be ok. look at any other NBA players they do it all the time. its a basketball game he was delibretly directing his “hip hop move” to noah or any other bulls player. simply having fun, noah is out of line and need to shut your mouth when your getting your ass handed to you.

That was ridiculous! Lebron and Danny Green looked like idiots dancing on the sideline. Lebron’s a great player, but just displayed once again how young and ignorant he is… or maybe like in the playoffs, how he just has NO CLASS. I dont let my junior high kids get away with that BS! And Noah just gained a lot of respect around the league and from the ‘sportsnation’ with his courage to call him out.

Noah sucks!!! He needs to take his fagdom to the tennis court where he should be instead of on a mans basketball court!! LBJ is better injured, than Noah will ever be. He’s only in the NBA because he was on an excellent Florida TEAM, not because he is good. Also, LBJ would tear him a new a** if they were to lock up, but just like a b***h, he barks while being protected by his bench full of b****es. F–k that! I wish Sir Charles was playing so he would lay him on his arse one of these day. Give him a hint of reality. LBJ’s game is awesome, but he needs to quit acting like a ‘tard. I don’t remember seeing MJ ever dancing except on that “Jam” video with the other MJ.

I agree with most of these comment. Is LBJ a great athlete? He is one of the best I’ve seen. But he’s no where close to being a respected player by true NBA fans that have seen great players come and go. All you Cav fans were pretty happy and amused watching this game I’m sure. But this guy needs to show some class. To me he is just a jerk and a waste of talent, that has always been pampered by the NBA. I’m sure he’s not going to face any fines. He is just a media darling (LBJ a.k.a. Princess James) that makes for good news but there is no room for dancing and show boating on the court. If you are really happy about this win and want to dance, wait till’ the game is over, shake hands with the other team (if you remember how) and go into the locker room and celebrate and do as much dancing as you want. There’s other player that display that behavior also. And I know he’s only 24yrs old but the last time I check, that’s a grown man’s age and he should know better and not get dragged into that style. He can help any team in the NBA win games, but he will never be a winner in many eyes. (LBJ a.k.a. Princess James).

I watched almost every game the Bulls have played since the mid 80′s and nearly all of MJ games. I never seen MJ dancing during a game. He may have pumped his fist or look a player in the eye, hell he even shook his finger in Mutombo’s face. But dancing like a cheerleader during the game, never! I’m a LBJ fan but what he and the other CAVs do while the game is being played is over the top. Yes a young man can have fun, but if the only way you can have fun is at the expense of a beaten opponent then you should find another way to have fun. With the millions he has at his disposal I’m sure he can find other ways to have fun. If he loves the game so much he should respect it. I’m not sure why Jordan’s name has even come up here.

LeBron may be having fun, but he really should save the dancing for the pre-game entrance. During the game, it’s just too much. I guess that enough of the press used to get on Noah for all of his antics high energy antics – to which he’s pretty much stopped doing this year – and I guess that he sees that LeBron gets a free pass to do his thing, so… I probably can’t sit well with him. And yeah, lumped in with the losing, it’s understandable. Can the Cavs show a little bit of humility by at least waiting to get back to their own locker room? I think that the Cavs coaching staff is partially at fault here. They’re too scared to lose LeBron, they can’t give him any kind of restrictions on what he can and cannot do. They’ll wind up losing him, because they gave him the keys to do everything.

Lebron is a very good player. No one’s taking that away from him. However, what he did was actually showboating and it was low. With someone who hates to lose that much and refuses to be a class act, then he should understand completely where Noah was coming from. I predict LeBron will be extremely frustrated later next year as history will be repeating itself again. Let’s hope by that time he builds some class.

If the fans didn’t spend so much on tickets and merchandise etc, there would be no venue for all this arrogance and drama. look at the blogs twits and messages everytime an athelete does something. WHO GIVES A SHIT!! Do you even care this much about your neighbors or family to pay this much attention to such trivial crap. And people complain that they are pampered… by the FANS ultimately. If Lebron wasnt so popular no one would care, and he is popular because of the fans.
Damn, look at Dale Earnhardt Jr. He is one of the worst drivers, but because of fans and popularity, we will know every aspect of his stupid life, and you would think he won four chamionships or something. So be real, we are the contributors

this dancing hatred is so funny to me. The kid is 24, he is having fun. Since when is having fun un-classy? Is there a requirement that you have to look library serious when playing a G A M E? That’s right, it’s a game. As serious as you may take it, it’s just a game, and most people have fun when they play a game as that is the point of playing a game. There is a big difference between acting silly and dancing because you are having a good time, and going right in front of the other bench and saying “you suck, we are beating you, haha, you all suck.” To compare the two is ridiculous. I work at Microsoft, I have a freakin nerf gun in my office and we shoot each other with them all the time. Does that mean I don’t take my work seriously?

Comment from Jason Burns
Time December 6, 2009 at 10:55 am

While we are on the topic of other “classier players” Kobe will straight up HIT you if you are beating him, kick you in the stomach or elbow you in the head in the “act of shooting.” If you go down all of the top NBA players, the only one I can think of that is above reproach for never being in any way un-sportsmanlike is Tim Duncan. But again, these people aren’t heckling brain surgeries or standing in the slums laughing at poor people, they are playing a highly competive, emotionally charged game. If the other players can’t take a little taunting (which I don’t think it was) then they need to check back into kindergarten and grow up a little. Larry Byrd, Magic Johnson, Jordan, Isiah Thomas, Barkley, pretty much all of the old guard excluding Hakeem Olajawan talked trash, baited, goated, and worse. Get a grip people.

I think the sad thing is we teach our kids these days that if you enjoy it do it no matter how it makes others feel. If dancing like that offends your opponant when the game is already decided you shouldn’t do it. Its common sense to me. If I know I am really offending someone or irritating them I dont do it. There is no reason for LJ to offend others so that he can showoff and have fun. Life isn’t always about your fun it is about respecting what others stand for. NFL doesn’t want it,college football doesn’t want it. It is wrong and bad for the game. I do not have an issue with it before the game and even in a close game but when the game is decided you respect your opponent and do not do things just to irritate them. We teach our kids that and we should hold our millionaires to the same level shouldn’t we.

LeBron just doesn’t doesn’t get it. He needs to grow up. And I am not just talking about this piddly incident with Mr. Noah (think of the other recent events that got LeBron in the news, i.e. -retire No. 23, etc.). It’s is just a shame that his physical stature and basketball skills elevate him to the level of “role model.” He has to be mindful of his status and act accordingly. Take away basketball and who is he? Just another p*** a** kid. He is the wrong person to look up to. I hope that Mr. Noah posterizes him one day.

As of right now there is absolutley no comparison. Kobe is a seasoned veteran who has learned to be a team leader over his career and he is a 4 time NBA champion who is currently leading his team to try and defend their title. Lebron has yet to reach this level. GIVE KOBE A BREAK!

Basketball is a game. Games are supposed to be fun. Who cares if the entire Cavaliers bench jumps up and does a synchronized dance after every made basket? While I understand there has to be some level of professionalism in the NBA, there also has to be some emotion in it. Emotion makes games exciting. When players dance, jump, scream, chest bump, high five, pump their fist, they provide more entertainment and excitement. Yes, It can be frustrating when your team is losing but there is nobody to blame but yourself and your teammates.

“It’s nothing against the Bulls, it’s nothing against Joakim or any of those guys, it’s not something that’s new. We have fun, and we love to play the game of basketball. It’s nothing about showboating; that’s not what we do. I think he was frustrated by the way he played, maybe, as an individual, didn’t help his team win.” – James

How can you criticize Lebron for having a good time yet condone Joakim’s actions? How can you not say anything about the coaches who just let Joakim trash talk? Talk about hypocrisy. Joakim’s cursing and yelling while another player is attempting a foul shot is much worse than what Lebron did. His dancing wasn’t directed at any one person.

The Lebron smear campaign that has been going on lately is just pathetic. The things people criticize him for are ridiculous.

He hasn’t won a championship? So? He is young. He plays for Cleveland. He hasn’t had the talent to back him up. Everyone else on the team has been so inconsistent over the past few seasons. How can you bash a guy for not winning on a championship? He can’t carry an entire team.

He’s selfish? If you have watched Lebron play at all you would notice how many assists he gets per game. On top of that if you have ever met the guy he is one of the nicest people you have ever met.

He’s classless? How so? Because he was disappointed in himself last season and was too upset to shake the other teams hands? Are you serious? I would do the same thing. He got NO support from his teammates. On top of that nobody ever talks about all the times he DOES say “Good game.” after losing.

I think that the excitement and passion that Lebron brings to the game is fun to watch. Which is what makes me turn on my television to watch a game or pay 100$ a ticket to go down to the stadium. Sure he is over hyped. He is definitely NOT the best player in the NBA. But he is an amazing basketball player and to deny that is just ignorant.

Bron has turned into a punk in the last year, used to never be like this. Hethinks he is the best the NBA has to offer. Kobe, Dwight, the LeBron and D. Wade. I get sick of the NBA promotion one player only. He does do good commericals though. Its Cleveland on TV all year last year and could not see other stars like Durant and even Carter (who i snot washed up). Liked Lebron alot until last year and this year, he thinks he is GOD, and the media along with him. Tired of his act. Dont care if everyone disagrees. Opinions are just that and mine has changed regarding LeBron to the negative.

Lebron does not have to win a championship to be great that is true. He conducted his self better out of high school than last year and this year. He thinks he is too big for the game. Great skills lousy attitude. Not a LeBron hater but he needs to get back to playing ball. I went to UNC and Jordan (since some one mentioned his name) has his own set of faults: cheap (many sources including best friend who knows him well, gambling and not paying, getting on Horace Grant because Jordan was a big shot and could do it) Bill Cartwright told Jordan if he tried that stuff with him he would break his legs. Must have meant it, Jordan did not mess with stiff Bill. If LeBron keeps it up he is going to get punched out one of these days. Right now he is still good for the game but headed in the wrong direction. If you dont agree KMA
