Bulls Front Office Leaks Like My Kitchen Faucet (Fire Vinny Edition)

UntitledVinny Del Negro should be fired.  That is obvious.  In fact, we all thought it was going to happen a few days ago, but alas, Vinny was spared the famous “Bulls Christmas Eve Ax“.  Now ESPN’s Chris Broussard is reporting what we all already knew, Vinny’s days are numbered:

The decision to fire head coach Vinny Del Negro has already been made, according to sources with knowledge of the Chicago Bulls‘ thinking. The fact that the Bulls’ front office has not been able to settle on a replacement is the main thing keeping the embattled Del Negro employed, the sources said.

The story goes on to name possible replacements, even claiming that John Paxson was considered but declined.  My problem with this story is not the firing of Vinny (lord knows its been a long time coming) or even the list of candidates that the Bulls are considering.  What upsets me is how poorly mismanaged this front office is.  I’m not claiming that it is easy to keep a story like this quiet, especially when you are reaching out to other coaches behind your coach’s back, but it seems like the Bulls are unable to handle any situation correctly.  Ever.

Now what?  They can’t keep Vinny on following this latest leak.  So instead of avoiding the interim situation like they were trying to do, they are going to be forced into naming an interim coach like Bickerstaff or..gulp..Pete Myers.

You know what they could have done?  Not hired Vinny Del Crapo in the first place.  That would have solved this problem a year and a half before it even arose.  Idiots.
