Maybe The Bad Karma From Bears Fans Poisoning Steelers Fans is Why The Bears Suck

heddingerThis story is not a joke.  I just noticed it out on the web a little bit ago and now it is apparently confirmed.  A Bears fan poisoned a shit-talking Steelers fan after the Bears beat the Steelers a few weeks ago.  I know it sounds crazy, but read this:

The Steelers had lost to the Bears at Soldier Field, and some trash-talking was going on between Zack Heddinger’s group of Pittsburgh fans and a group of Bears fans. Afterward, Heddinger, 46, was offered a drink by one of the Chicago fans, a gesture he thought was a peace offering, his older sister Linda Heddinger said this morning in an interview.

It still isn’t clear what substance was in the drink, but doctors believe, based on the effects, that it was grain alcohol, antifreeze or some kind of pesticide, Linda Heddinger said.

What is clear, she said, is that her brother is having memory difficulties and is nearly blind.

Supposedly the incident took place at Kitty O’Shea’s downtown.  Part of me wants to laugh at how ridiculous it is, but I’m pretty sure shame is the right way to go.  I hope to god that this was not intentional, but if it was it is a reflection of a fan’s passion gone horribly wrong.  Not to say that any kind of action like this is okay, but at least a bar brawl would have taken some stones.  You have to look someone in the face that way.  To poison a person is sneaky and unconscionable.  Hopefully the police will figure it out soon, but in the meantime Bears fans, don’t poison anyone else!  The Bears need all the good karma they can get.  And it’s just plain wrong.  Mostly the karma thing though.
