Everyone knows about the…odd…classic White Sox jerseys that there have been over the years.  Some have been better than others, but all baseball fans know they are interesting.  There’s the classic horizontal striped:

And of course who can forget the capri pants and collared shirt phase:

But everyone has seen those classy looks before.  After having thought I had seen every crazy throwback the Sox have had to offer over the years, however, they still never cease to amaze me.  In a recent post from Home Run Derby about errors in baseball cards, I stumbled on this weird Sox uni:

First of all, that is Floyd Bannister and not Tom Seaver, but more importantly do you see the stitching by the crotch?  Yeah apparently at some point in the 1980s, the Sox wore these grey, blue and red bad boys with the numbers stitched ON THE CROTCH.  God bless the South Side marketing department.  I can’t imagine a situation where stitching on the crotch of men’s clothing (or women’s either, right?) is acceptable, but nothing is off-limits for old-school Sox jerseys.  Let’s hope these bad boys don’t make a comeback.

Those shorts and collared shirts look like a bar league softball team.
