I wrote a blog post about this just before the NCAA Tournament started: http://frankthetank.wordpress.com/2009/03/09/the-linear-regression-of-big-ten-basketball/ I'll agree with you, though, that anyone that lumped Michigan State with the Wisconsins, Northwesterns, and Iowas of the conference obviously didn't watch the Spartans play this year - Tom Izzo doesn't necessarily have a run-and-gun offense, but they can run and play at a very fast pace effectively. (I also put my money where my mouth is this year, as I'll win my work's office pool if MSU wins tonight since I was the only one to pick the Spartans to win the championship.)
