Great Explanations For DNPs (Did Not Play)
NBA.com posted a box score last night which featured something very odd. I took a screen shot because I assume they will fix this at some point. Here’s the picture of it:
Well the first thing wrong with this is that Grant Hill does not play for the Warriors last I checked. I really hope this isn’t a joke though. DNP-Old Age/Lack of Talent is completely appropriate. From now on people should be honest in the box scores for why a player has a Did Not Play. Here are some possibilities:
Tracy McGrady – DNP-Not a contract year
Andrew Bynum – DNP-Hangover
Joakim Noah – DNP-Bad hair
Allen Iverson – DNP-Too much practice
Brad Miller – DNP-Slow
Marcus Camby – DNP-Hangnail
Aaron Gray – DNP-White
Hedo Turkoglu – DNP-Ugly
Rasheed Wallace – DNP-Angry
Charlie Villanueva – DNP-Busy Twittering
Stephon Marbury – DNP-Clubhouse cancer
Elton Brand – DNP-Overrated
Chris Anderson – DNP-Stoned
Michael Beasley – DNP-Overhyped
Kevin Garnett – DNP-Intensity
Zach Randolph – DNP-Ballhog
Peja Stojakovic – DNP-Didn’t feel like playing any defense
Manu Ginobili/Andres Nocioni – DNP-Flopped too hard
Dirk Nowitzki – DNP-Couldn’t stop thinking about David Hasselhoff
Eddy Curry – DNP-Fat
Greg Oden – DNP-Has no knees
Baron Davis – DNP-Making a movie.

Ironically enough, Grant Hill had a great night for the Suns last night and helped lead them to a big win. Ha!

This stemmed from an April Fool’s joke in which the Warriors wrote color commentator Jim Barnett onto the roster. I guess since Barnett doesn’t have an NBA.com profile they just put someone else suffering from similar ailments.
