Hawks Tonight, Craziness Last Night
Game 5 of the Blackhawks-Flames series is tonight at 8:00 PM CT and needless to say, it’s a biggie. Win, and the Hawks have a chance to steal a game and seal the series in Calgary next week. Lose, and they have to go up to the Saddledome and fight for their playoff lives. So yeah, no pressure.
I’m not going to get into a big preview, but I’ll just say that the first two games at the United Center have me a little worried about tonight. Sure the Hawks won both games, but they weren’t entirely pretty. Then thoughts of a sweep vanished with a bit of a laugher in Game 3, preceding the wild loss in Game 4. Again, tonight is a big, huge, Weis-sized game.
Now onto some antics from last night’s Rangers-Caps game, which Washington won 4-0 to push the series to Game 6. Rangers coach John Tortorella got a little fed up with some fans behind the Rangers bench and confronted them in the third period. Here’s some video:
As you can see, that’s a stick in his hands as he stands on the bench exchanging recipes with the crowd. You gotta wonder what Torts had planned with that piece of equipment. Apparently, he threw a water bottle at those fans just before that clip picked up and hit some lady in the head. Tortorella benched trouble-maker Sean Avery for Game 5, so maybe he just thought he had to bring the assbaggery for this one.
