Good Hawks show up, Beat Blues Senseless
Well that was a little more fun to watch than the last two games. The Blackhawks dominated the Blues at the United Center and moved back into fourth place in the Western Conference. The Hawks are now one point away from clinching that elusive playoff berth and it would be great if they could do it Friday night at home against Nashville before heading on the road for two games. Well, I suppose the Red Wings could help out Chicago by beating St. Louis tonight, but that really wouldn’t be too fitting. Here are a few thoughts from the game:
- The Blackhawks defense was dominant. They allowed seven shots through two periods and 17 for the game. The turnovers that we saw the last two games were virtually non-existent.
- Khabibulin was sharp, but only saw 17 shots on goal. He would have gotten the shutout, but the Blues scored off a faceoff with a couple seconds left.
- Congrats to Sammy Pahlsson on his first goal as a Chicago Blackhawk. Here’s to 10 more in the playoffs!
- I had mostly good things to say, but the Hawks were 0-8 on the power play. That’s something like 16 in a row now without a goal. If you don’t score on the power play in the playoffs, you don’t go to the second round. Get it together!
Let’s hope we get to crack open a celebratory drink over the next few days when the Chicago Blackhawks clinch a playoff berth for the first time since 2002.
