Paxson Tells Vinny To Stop Being An Idiot
Over the last couple weeks a disturbing trend has developed regarding 4th quarter minutes in the Bulls backcourt: Vinny has been inexplicably keeping Rose on the bench down the stretch. I analyzed this last week and the conclusion was that while Hinrich may have been effective in those situations, it is important to get Rose the experience of playing in the 4th quarter of games so that he develops. Vinny gave his usual useless reasoning for why he was benching Rose, but apparently Paxson isn’t having any of that anymore:
“I’ve talked to Vinny about this. And our future is Derrick. There’s no secret of that. There are times that I personally feel – and Vinny knows this – that I feel he should be on the floor at the end of games.”
It’s good to see Paxson making good decisions and not being afraid to overrule Vinny. After years of Skiles calling the shots, for better or worse, it is more important than ever that Pax asserts control with such a terrible young coach when he sees something not right.
Oh by the way, Vinny left Rose on the floor in the 4th quarter against Houston, where he led the Bulls back from a large deficit to beat the Rockets. How much longer will the Vinny Experiment continue?

i’m willing to bet Paxson told VDN to put in Rose after the Washington game. Putting your best player/future of the franchise in the game in 4th quarter seems far too logical for a coach of Del Negro’s stature
