@KD: You make a decent point, and I guess I would rephrase this to say that while Tyrus isn’t the worst jump-shooting PF in the game, he’s definitely not great at it. For a PF, we need someone with a higher fg%. Just to make it clear, I’ve been drinking TT kool-aid since the beginning and it is delicious. I still think he is going to be great and that we need to give him more minutes. Like you said though, he’s more effective off the ball and setting himself up for lobs.

One other thing: Did you notice his fg% right around the basket is only 52%? Isnt that a bit low also?

Um, 37 percent (the total percentage from just in front of the three-point stripe) is pretty average from that spot, and very good for a power forward.

And his mark from last year (41 percent) from those spots was exceptional.

I know Matt McHale’s just pretending to be a Bulls follower, and he wasn’t paying attention last year. His lack of knowledge I can understand. But those of us who were need to understand the context of what we’re dealing with. PF numbers from those spots, at that age, coupled with his improving FT percentage … very good. And pretty pointless to talk about after a game that saw the backcourt shoot about 3-92.

If we’re going to rip on Tyrus for something, let’s rip his refusal to move away from the ball and set himself up on the baseline for lobs.

Interestingly, this screen shot would advocate that Tyrus shoot more threes from the arc. Haha. I can understand the third ring (from the basket) not being that great, but he shouldn’t be that bad from the 2nd ring.

He still just doesn’t get it. There’s a reason he’s open for all these jumpers, the opposition is asking him to take them.
