Joe Morgan is a complete idiot. His hard-headed stubborn refusals to look at anything beyond what he deems to be true has ruined many games that he has called for ESPN. His unbearable ego and sense of self-importance make me want to throw up, and even inspired the well-respected and now-defunct FireJoeMorgan.com. Well I don’t know how I missed this before, but Bleacher Nation posted this yesterday and I couldn’t stop laughing when I saw it:

3/22/09. Morgan does it again. His need to show how brilliant he is and how stupid the average MLB player must be manifested itself again in the USA/Japan game. Wright made a throw wide to the 2nd base side of the bag and DeRosa lunged to get it and was unsuccessful. Morgan, in his infinite wisdom, explained why DeRosa failed in his attempt to snag the errant throw: “DeRosa had the wrong foot on the bag, Jon. He had his right foot on the bag. If he had his left foot on the bag, he would have been able to make the play.” Never mind that DeRosa had a glove on his left hand and if he had his left foot on the bag his glove would have been even further from the errant throw. Never mind that no first baseman in the world would have been able to catch the ball and keep a foot on the bag. Joe Morgan is an idiot.
