Two Legends Gone In The Blink Of An Eye

3-26-04_Black_Kerr_9.jpgI’m at a loss for words.  This is one of the saddest days in Chicago sports in my lifetime, if not the saddest.  On the heels of reports that Bulls legend Norm Van Lier passed away this morning, news comes in that Johnny “Red” Kerr has died as well.  After a long struggle with prostate cancer, Red has moved on to a better place.  More on this story tomorrow, but we should all keep their families and friends in our hearts and honor Red in whatever way we can.

It’s just unreal. I’m in tears watching CSN right now. At least Johnny got his ceremony 2 weeks ago, said that was the happiest day of his life. Kendall Gill said earlier on CSN that the one thing that bothered Norm was that his number wasn’t retired, which is ridiculous. Please do that right now Bulls, although it’s too late.

RIP Norm and Red.

It warms my heart to know that “Stormin’” and “Red” are enjoying a nice cigar together in a better place. In my opinion, if the Bulls decided to retire the #2, we could probably hear “Stormin” from heaven tell the Bulls organization that they can shove his number up their a$s.
