I am the father that the author of this post, Stormin' Norman, refers to in this post. Believe you me, this is a very sad day. Van Lier represented intensity and drive that one rarely sees in professional sports or many other things for that matter. Whenever there was loose ball, a deflected pass heading out of bounds or a floor to slide across to retrieve an errant pass, he was there. You are right, what he lacked in skill, he more than made up in intensity. And he was also the most unselfish of players. He threw his body and mind into the game. And what a basketball mind he had. He was MR. BASKETBALL IQ. I have always wondered why you chose this name for his blog and reflecting back on the career of Norm Van Lier makes it clear. What you guys share is a passion, intensity and "never give up" attitude that will always land you ON TOP.
