Paxson Pulls Trigger, Flag Comes Out That Says “Bang” (Trade Deadline Roundup)

20 February, 2009 (09:00) | Chicago Bulls, Illinois, NBA | By: Stormin' Norman Disciple

If If you were screaming for Paxson to make a move for the past 5 years, you finally got your wish.  He made three major moves in the last couple days right before the deadline.  Did he make the moves we all wanted?  I don’t see Chris Bosh or Amare Stoudemire in a Bulls jersey, [...]

Thabo Is Gone Too

19 February, 2009 (15:53) | Basketball, Chicago Bulls, NBA | By: Stormin' Norman Disciple

According to ESPN:
Chicago’s Thabo Sefolosha is headed to Oklahoma City for one of the Thunder’s five stockpiled first-round picks in the next two drafts.
This makes sense because after the Hughes deal we needed to move some salary to get under the cap for this season.  I like Thabo but his usefulness to the team was [...]

Hank Aaron And Steroids

19 February, 2009 (15:00) | Baseball, MLB | By: Stormin' Norman Disciple

We haven’t covered the A-Rod steroids story too much here for a few reasons.  Partly because it doesn’t really relate to Chicago at all right now, but mostly because it is one of those stories that is so over-reported by mainstream media outlets that I get a headache every time there’s another story about it [...]

Best. Announcer. Ever.

19 February, 2009 (13:00) | NHL, Video | By: StevieY19

The following is a fantastic collection of goal calls by the announcer for the Florida Panthers of the NHL, Randy Moller.  I can’t give much of an explanation, so I’ll just put on the video.  Wokka Wokka!

Good Riddance

19 February, 2009 (12:40) | Chicago Bulls, NBA, Trades | By: StevieY19

ESPN is reporting that the Bulls and Knicks have agreed to a trade and are awaiting league approval.  The deal would send Larry Hughes (!!!) to the Knicks for Tim Thomas and Jerome James.
So Hughes’ short time with the Bulls has come to an end, and Chicago will welcome James and Thomas.  Is it me [...]

One More Reason Chicago Is Better Than San Francisco

19 February, 2009 (12:00) | Food, MLB | By: Stormin' Norman Disciple

As a Chicagoan, I take pride in a lot of things in our city: architecture, sports teams, work ethic, attitude of the people, culture, and a number of other things.  One thing I take special pride in is our food.  Whether it is the amazing deep dish pizza or the delicious Italian beef, the food [...]

Illini set Record for Awfulness*

19 February, 2009 (10:00) | College Basketball, Illinois, Uncategorized | By: StevieY19

*may be false
If they didn’t it was damn close.  Illinois had an awful night shooting the basketball, making just 15 of its 50 shots.  In a contest between Illinois shooting regular shots and me shooting free throws with my left foot, it would not be a blowout.
The first half saw Illinois score 15 points, but [...]

Who Is John Salmons? (And Other Questions Raised By The Big Trade)

19 February, 2009 (09:00) | Chicago Bulls, NBA | By: Stormin' Norman Disciple

There are some important questions that are raised by yesterdays Bulls-Kings trade.  Though it is not the most important question on people’s minds, the issue of what John Salmons game consists of seems to be the thing most people in Chicago are confused about.  Other questions that have arisen are: Are the Bulls done making [...]

Bulls-Kings Trade: What They’re Saying

18 February, 2009 (17:12) | Uncategorized | By: StevieY19

The Bulls couldn’t lure Amare or Bosh to Chicago, but they made the move for Brad Miller and gave up much less than we were hearing in the process.  Here’s a little taste of how the blog world is reacting…
Tom Ziller at Fanhouse (Kings Fan): The Nocioni acquisition is odd at best for Sacramento; Andres [...]

Look Who’s Back In Town

18 February, 2009 (16:10) | Chicago Bulls, Trades | By: Stormin' Norman Disciple

The Bulls made a blockbuster trade today, and thankfully it did not involve Brian Cardinal.  Brad Miller is coming home (so to speak):
The Chicago Bulls and Sacramento Kings have reached tentative agreement on a trade sending Andres Nocioni, Drew Gooden and Cedric Simmons to the Kings for Brad Miller and John Salmons, ESPN.com.

Hawks hit the Road Again, Beat Lightning

18 February, 2009 (11:30) | Chicago Blackhawks | By: StevieY19

Playing on the road for what seems like the 20th time in the last few weeks, the Blackhawks overcame a lot to get a victory last night.
Tampa Bay rookie Steve Stamkos netted his first hat trick as a professional, but it was the youth of Chicago that stole the show.  It was like the NHL [...]

New Bulls Trade Rumors Involving Crappier Players

18 February, 2009 (10:56) | Chicago Bulls | By: Stormin' Norman Disciple

Well it looks like the Amare rumors are dead, which would also kill any Bosh deal since that was a three-way deal involving Amare as well.  We can still hold out hope that it’s not dead, but it seems highly unlikely at this point.  But don’t hang your heads!  Paxson won’t stand pat this time, [...]
